Spoiler Poll
WARNING! The content of this post and the poll in the sidebar contain spoilers, for those who haven’t finished the latest Harry Potter book.
My first poll, visible in the sidebar: Is Dumbledore really dead?
I think so, but one theory has it that Snape said the killing curse out loud, he was actually thinking of another spell in his mind. Book 6 has all sorts of goodies on non-verbal spell-casting, but I think Severus did the deed. You?

Good idea for a site! I hope you have much success with it.
One suggestion, though: There’s a good chance that Harry fans that HAVEN’T read every printed page of the series will find this site. If it’s a necessity that each post contain spoilers, maybe you should put something in the header or something to warn people before they read too much.
I know you’d hate for someone who hasn’t finished the latest book to stumble in and have the ending ruined by posts like this one. But I can also understand how the very point of this site necessitates spoilers. If you can find a way to have free discussion while still protecting the less savvy fans, that would probably be a good thing.

Here’s the thing. I do believe that Dumbledore is really dead, but the symbolism of the Phoenix keeps coming back to me, especially how during the memorial service, Harry thought he saw a Phoenix in the rising smoke. Could it be that Dumbledore can be brought back to life somehow? Maybe not literally, like Lazarus or something, but in some way I feel he will be resurrected.

I personally dont think Snape killed Dumbledore. Dumbledore may be dead, however I don’t think Snape “murdered” him, as such. J.K. Rowling loves to lead the readers astray into believing blah blah is the bad guy when it is really someone else.

I’m not sure he would die just like that. He might have taken a curtain number of steps so that Harry won’t be alone inhte fight. I believe that when at the funeral when Harry said that he might have seen a phonix fly off into the distance I believe that the phonix was dumbledore or a least his spirt. On Mugglenet.com it says that in the new book(7) that Harry might have a new pet. So it might be fawks or Dumbledores phonix. Harry says Dumbledores never told him to stop taking his orders.

The way JK Rowling’s interview on Mugglenet is, I would assume Dumbledore is dead. She didn’t want to answer is Snape is evil because people wanted to know as they were clinging to hope… yada yada yada. Given the popularity of each character, I have to assume that the clinging is that DUmbledore is alive. She says we will learn more about him in book 7. I think he is dead, especially since book 6 said the portraits on the wall were of DEAD headmasters and mistresses. I do think that the mirror from 5 that Sirius gave to Harry will be important (JK won’t say but it hints at something with RAB or at the very least Regelus assuming he is RAB) and I am assuming Dumbledore left guides for harry… The pensieve will be a good start as it has played roles in the last 3 books.
Based on her interview though I am more confused than ever if Snape is evil. I thought he wasn’t and killed Dumbledore as a last resort in order to save Draco and keep his cover. Some of the coments from her interview make me think he is evil, others make me stick with original theory. Good job on her part though.
Good interview to read BTW. Finally learn Ron’s patronus and it spells out for the few who STILL haven’t figured it out from book 3 on who Hermione will end up with… of course if you haven’t figured it out by reading book 6, there probably isn’t any hope for you.

My thoughts are along the same line as RavenclawWit. Dumbledore is dead but there is something about all this phoenix talk during the funeral. I think a part of him is floating around out there. It’s just a matter of finding out how to grab on to it so to speak.

I don’t see Dumbledore being able to come back to life, since he NEVER feared death and wouldn’t take steps to live forever. I always thought the phoenix at the end of HBP was Fawkes. I think Fawkes will be back in 7 and will belong to harry.

Here’s what I think. The whole order of the pheonix thing is significant. The pheonix rises from its ashes, AFTER it catches ablaze. Was dumbledore burned after he died? The horcrux thing is also significant. Maybe dumbledore put part of him in the pheonix, possibly all members of the order did. Sirius can’t come back because he slipped behind the veil, thus you wouldnt be able to burn him. If dumbledore did, in fact, put part of his soul in the pheonix, then he never really died, just like voldemort didnt. Which means that if he came back, it wouldnt be returning from the dead…..cuz he didnt die. SO, in conclusion, I feel that dumbledore will return, possibly when harry figures out the details of the whole order of the pheonix/horcrux thing.
