So I stumbled on this over at the Mugglenet Forums and had to share it with you. Some bloke (like my appropriation of British slang?) has actually gotten the Dark Mark (morsmordre!) tattooed on his arm!

On the one hand, I thought this was cool beyond belief. It’s the goth child coming out in me. On the other hand, I don’t think I’d really want to be identified with Voldemort and the Death Eaters not to mention a tattoo is so permanent.

Ok. Get ready. I have a super whacked out theory about Fred and George. Not only will they play a big role in book 7, they’re the key to the whole series. There used to be a theory that Ron was Dumbledore. But JKR debunked that theory on her site. But I think that Fred and George = Albus and Aberforth Dumbledore. Ok, I’ll give you a second to breathe. Here’s some evidence:
1. Dumbledore says that Aberforth had his wand snapped in two because of practising inappropriate charms on a goat. Two possibilities here: One, Dumbledore is lying and there’s a very good reason that Aberforth tends bar at the Hog’s Head. He’s a spy for the Order. It also could have something to do with the fact that meddling with time is apparently a serious crime. One of them may have to lay low so as not to be associated with two twins who’re suspected of time travelling. Or Fred/George really did do something whacky to a goat. Sounds like something they’d do right?
2. In HBP (pg.390), Ron receives a watch for his birthday. This watch is very similar, but not identical to the watch that Dumbledore has, mentioned on page 12 of PS/SS. Is it possible that Mr. and Mrs. Weasley get a magical watch for all their children when they come of age? They seem to like timepieces after all; don’t forget their “mortal peril” clock.
3. It’s weird to me that if the twins don’t have some major role, that JKR keeps them in the forefront of all the books. She could send them off somewhere or simply keep mentioning that they’re busy with their store, but they keep putting in an appearance.
4. Also in HBP (pg. 339), Fred and George give Mrs. Weasley some very nice presents for Christmas. George says to her, “Well, we find we appreciate you more and more Mum, now we’re washing our own socks”. Who else do we know that likes socks? Dumbledore, of course. It’s what he claims to see in the mirror of Erised.
5. Speaking of the mirror, how does Dumbledore know what Ron saw in the mirror? He says he has ways of being invisible when Harry asks him, but this seems weird. So Dumbledore is addicted to the mirror? Or maybe he knows because he knows Ron, he being his brother and all.
6. In PS/SS, Dumbledore also knows that Fred and George sent Harry a toilet seat. Madam Pomfrey could have told him; but why would she bother the headmaster with something so trivial?
7. In her most recent interview with Mugglenet, JKR makes several interesting statements about Dumbledore, and she’s very cagey when asked about anything to do with his past. She won’t say what he would really see in the mirror or what his patronus is. She also says, “You will — [pause] — you will know more about Dumbledore. I have to be sooo careful on this.” Then later, Emerson asks where Dumbledore learned everything he knows and she replies, “I see him primarily as someone who would be self-taught. However, he in his time had access to superb teachers at Hogwarts, so he was educated in the same way that everyone else is educated. Dumbledore’s family would be a profitable line of inquiry, more profitable than sweet wrappers.”
So that, in effect is my theory. Fred and George travelled back in time and literally became Albus and Aberforth Dumbledore. It has been said elsewhere that there isn’t a way to go forward in time (at least that we know about), so they must have gone far enough back that they couldn’t “catch up” like Harry and Hermione did in PoA. Why did they go back in time? Could be many reasons. Could have a lot to do with Harry, and more I suspect with Ron. This is far-fetched, but I love coming up with crazy theories. Really, in JKR’s world, anything is possible! I just came up with it, so I’m still thinking it through. But please by all means, discuss it with me.
Edit: I also posted this on the Mugglenet forums, so if you see both, it’s not plagiarized; I’m RavenclawWit over there too.

The Leaky Cauldron has 13 new clips from the upcoming Goblet of Fire movie to download and watch. Of course, you may not want to, if you’d like to save at least some of the surprises of the movie for when it actually comes out.
I’ve watched most of them myself, and I can tell you that while they took a lot of liberties with the book, everything is in the spirit of the book, and it looks like it’s going to be the best Potter film yet.

Thanks to AOL Music, you can listen to the entire Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire soundtrack online.
All I can say after listening to it is ‘wow’. It is a truly amazing piece of work. Almost a symphony unto itself. The score, composed by Patrick Doyle, is a lot different than the previous scores by John Williams, but it’s an improvement in my opinion. This score has a depth of feeling about it that I haven’t experienced before in a film period, let alone in the previous Potter movies. The songs have an almost operatic quality to them; you can feel the scope of the story in every note. In particular, “Voldemort” is a magnificent piece. I couldn’t believe how wonderful it was, moving from dark and brooding to creepy to foreboding in its 9 minute running time. I expect this soundtrack to rake in the awards next year, and it’s definitely on my Christamas list. Again, this is a simply amazing soundtrack. It surprised me with its ambition and its skill. This isn’t music for a kid’s movie; this is a musical masterpiece that should be in everyone’s collection.

There’s a cool site called MyPensieve that allows users to sign up for their own personal Harry Potter space on the web. It’s sort of like MySpace for Harry Potter fans. In your pensieve, you can add friends, view personalized Potter news, have your own media gallery, blog, etc. It’s pretty neat. I’m over there as RavenclawWit, if anyone wants to add me as a friend.

I’ve made four new desktop wallpapers. Two of them are headshots of Hermione from the upcoming GoF film, one is Hermione and Viktor Krum at the Yule Ball, and the fourth is a wallpaper of Ginny Weasley made from a great publicity still of her from GoF. That one is my favorite. Click the thumbnails to see full-size and download. You can see the rest of my Harry Potter wallpapers here.

Harry and the Potters are a comical parody band comprised of Paul DeGeorge as Harry Year 7 and Joe DeGeorge as Harry Year 4.
From their site:
The idea is that the Harry Potter from Year 7 and the Harry Potter from Year 4 started a rock band. And now, no one can stop the wizard rock.
You can listen to their music on MySpace.
They were in Atlanta, GA yesterday (where I live) and they’ll be in Athens, GA (my former college town) tonight. I wish I had the chance to see them live; it would have been fun.

Other than the salacious headline, here’s a link to a high-priced doll version of our favorite hero. Not that I’m in to that sort of thing.

Each new Harry Potter book introduces a bevy of new characters. Every time I read a new character, I can’t help but wonder who will play them in the movie. We are now more than halfway through the movies, but there are still a ton of characters to be introduced, unless Warner Bros. ruthlessly cuts them all out. Here are a few that still need to be cast and my picks for who should play them.
Mundungus Fletcher- I really hope they don’t try to cut this character. They could do it, but it would just make a lot of holes in the plot that they would have to fill with something else, especially in book 6, plus I have a feeling we’ll be seeing Mundungus in book 7. I think Bob Hoskins would make a great Mundungus Fletcher.
Nymphadora Tonks- I really hope they don’t cut Tonks. I also hope they bring back Lupin for movie 5, otherwise Tonks won’t make a terrible lot of sense. Let’s see, Keira Knightley might make a pretty good Tonks, or if we want her to be a bit older, how about Kate Winslet?
Bellatrix Lestrange- Here’s a juicy role. I’ve heard many nominations for this role, but I think Catherine Zeta-Jones would be awesome. People forget that she’s actually from Wales, because she’s married to Michael Douglas. Bellatrix is supposed to be someone who was once beautiful in a sort of dark and sensual way. Catherine Zeta-Jones is beautiful now in that way, and a little makeup would have you convinced that she’s just spent 15 years in Azkaban.
Narcissa Malfoy- Draco’s mother makes her first appearance in book 4, but she’s not in the film, still I feel like she must make it in at least in movie 6, where she plays a short but pivotal role in making Snape take an Unbreakable Vow. I think Nicole Kidman with blond hair could play her perfectly, but I don’t know if the filmmakers would bend their “all British actors” rule enough to allow an Australian to play her.
Horace Slughorn- I’d like to see Sir Anthony Hopkins in this role. Slughorn strikes me as this guy who’s obsessed with powerful people and what they can give him, but he also has this great dignity and actually a fair bit of courage. I mean think about it, he’s a Slytherin, but he doesn’t succumb to the pressure to be like most other Slytherins. He’s not prejudiced against half-blood or muggle born students and he refuses to become a Death Eater. He only changes his memory because he’s deeply ashamed of his actions which in his eyes, caused Voldemort to rise to power. (Personally, I’m pretty sure Voldemort would have figured out what horcruxes were whether Slughorn told him or not.)
Obviously, these are not all the new roles which will have to be cast, just ones for which I have a clear idea of who should play them. I’d be really interested in anyone else’s ideas for casting the coming Potter movies. Takers, anyone?

The Headmaster posted his results for the Sorting Hat test, so I decided to post mine as well.
The sorting hat says that I belong in Ravenclaw!

Said Ravenclaw, "We’ll teach those whose intelligence is surest."
Ravenclaw students tend to be clever, witty, intelligent, and knowledgeable.
Notable residents include Cho Chang and Padma Patil (objects of Harry and Ron’s affections), and Luna Lovegood (daughter of The Quibbler magazine’s editor).

Quiz ever created. |

I scored a whopping 92% Ravenclaw, 70% Hufflepuff, 66% Gryffindor, and 25% Slytherin. I kind of guessed it would turn out that way. I’ve taken numerous sorting tests and I always end up in Ravenclaw (hence my moniker, RavenclawWit). Weirdly, whenever I take a test that tells which HP character you are, I end up as Hermione. Of the three characters listed as examples of Ravenclaws I’m probably most like Luna. I guess I’m a cross between Luna and Hermione. I have tremendous book knowledge and I don’t miss much, but I can be a bit dotty and I have a habit of telling the truth even if it is a bit plain.
