JK and the Juicy New Rumors
As Ravenclawwit posted, JK redid her site. The entrance is much better and the whole site has a holiday theme to it (which begs the question of are there any Jewish witches and wizards who feel alienated due to Hogwart’s only celebrating Christmas). Best of all she has updated the rumors page and her diary.
1) The Diary talks about 2006 being the year she writes Book 7. SO that gives us the pretty much assumed badnews that 7 will not be out this year… However, if things stay on track, we could see a summer 2007 release (my guess not her statement) which would be great.
2) The rumors address a few things… A fictional HP7 title, Wormtail’s Silver Hand, the new DADA teacher, and under the dark mark, a horcrux rumor. Unfortunately, it isn’t the Harry/Horcrux rumor… but the one it addresses has been bandied around a lot. Very good stuff… as always, read and discuss.

Yeah, I caught these yesterday. at the time that I posted before, the site was just redecorated, she hadn’t added all the new info yet. I pretty much knew there would be no Potter book this year. She said in the MuggleNet/TLC interview that she wouldn’t properly begin working on the book until the new year, so that eliminated it being done in 2006. An interesting note, Order of the Phoenix movie is scheduled for July 2007 as far as I know. I doubt they’d release the book and movie that close together, so I’m gonna guess a bit later for the book, although haven’t all the books so far been released in July? Some have said that perhaps Book 7 will be released on July 7th, 2007, in keeping with the whole 7 is a magic number thing.
Now, Rumors. She keboshed the sorting hat. I never thought the hat was a horcrux, but interesting that out of all the items that people have named as possible horcruxes, she chose to debunk that one. Another interesting rumor that she laid to rest was the “Petunia is a witch” theory. Glad to see that one go. I’ve seen it around alot on the message boards. While I definitely think there’s more to Petunia than meets the eye, she’s definitely not a witch or magical in any way. Another rumor she killed was the one about Pettigrew’s hand being used to kill Lupin. She says no, but notice what she says: “Nice idea, clearly predicated on the legend that only a silver bullet can kill a werewolf – but incorrect.” So does this mean the whole premise of silver killing werewolves is off, or just where it concerns Lupin? Because I always had the idea that Pettigrew may use his hand to save Harry from Greyback, thereby fulfilling his life-debt to Harry.
By the way, glad you managed to log in!

Hmm, good call on the greyback thing. That would make a lot of sense.
