Dan Buys Black Family Tree
via HPANA
Reports are circulating that at last night’s Book Aid International auction, the hand sketched Black Family Tree was bid on and purchased on behalf of Potter star Daniel Radcliffe. It sold for £30,000 ($52,219). All proceeds of the auction go to Book Aid International, which is a charity with the aim of encouraging reading and literacy.
Dan has always been reported to be a genuine fan of the Potter series, as opposed to many of the other cast members, who haven’t even read the books. Guess this confirms that. Hopefully, he’ll be generous and allow us all a glimpse of the infamous tree. Well, probably not, but one can hope right?

According to mugglenet.com, the purchaser was Marcia Gresham (Dan’s mother) who “also purchased a Tom Stoppard play for £3,700 and a piece on writing by Iain Banks for £980″ on her son’s behalf.
“The charity, which provides books for African schools, was delighted to raise a total of £63,000.”
Including the cost of the Black Family tree, Dan and his family are responsible for more than half of the total amount of money that was raised for the charity. Love it.
