Door Reveals Book 7 Title
The door on J.K. Rowling’s site is once again open, and this time, it reveals the title of Book 7. Granted, you have to go through a bit of trickery to get through the door, and then you have to play a game to reveal the title.
For instructions on how to get through the door, highlight the following area:
======
Go to Rowling’s site and click the eraser on her desk.
Click doorway in mirror to see Christmas tree.
Click on the top half of the door (not the one in the mirror) to get the wreath.
Click on the top of the mirror to get the garland.
Click on the spider web right next to the door to make them go away.
Click the 4th chime in the window and get the key for the door.
Drag key to unlock the door.
Door opens to show a desk with a package.
Click the bow on the package and it will open.
Click the inside of the package and a game of Hangman is shown where you can play a game to guess the name of the seventh book.
You can keep playing till you get it right and when you do a check mark will appear.
======
If you just want to know the title without going through all that rigmarole, highlight this area:
======
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
======
Also, I’m declaring the comments to this post to be a SPOILER zone. If you don’t know the title yet, or don’t want to know, read the comments at your own risk.
So my thoughts? Well, the title makes absolutely no sense to me. Especially as I’m only familiar with two definitions for the last word in the title, and neither have had any bearing on the series thus far, at least as far as I know. Also, I don’t know but it feels a bit awkward, this title. It doesn’t quite flow off the tongue the way the others do. I’m thinking it’s possible that Jo is playing a joke on us. Then again, when I read the last book, this title will probably make perfect sense.

What immediately came to my mind was “hallowed halls” as another name for a University or an institute of higher learning.
Could Hogwarts be the scene (yet again) of traps, subterfuge and death?

Yeah what came to my mind first was hallowed, as in “and hallowed be thy name”, in which case to hallow something means to make it holy or sacred. The other thing was of course, “All Hallows Eve”, which is the Catholic name for Halloween, in which Hallows refers to anyone who is dead. The problem here is that deathly is an adjective, meaning that Jo must be using Hallows in the noun sense, not the verb sense. It would make no sense, at least to me, if the meaning of the title was “Harry Potter and the deathly to make holy or sacred.”

Ok, I don’t know about n e one else, but the first thing to come to my mind was ‘Godric Hollow’. We already know that Harry will go back there to visit his parents graves, so lets see what i may ave put together:
1. ‘Deathly Hallows’ vrs. ‘Godric Hollow’
2. Harry visiting Hollow vrs. Trouble Follows Harry
3. ‘Grave yard’ vrs. ‘no trouble in a slightly-spooky-setting-where-there-are-important-dead-people-and-harry-is-there’
Yeah, i really think that this visit in the book will have a great (or grave-no pun intended-) consciquence on the novel.

The word Hollow and Hallows are completely unrelated. I’m sure we will see Godric’s Hollow in the seventh book, however I don’t think that’s what the title is referring to.

I think the name makes perfect sense. I know three definitions of Hallow(s)
The first is sacred, holy. More often sacred or holy objects. What sacred objects of death have we recently found out about? Horcruxes. This is the lamer title, in my opinion.
The second is where the dead dwell, or the dwelling places of the dead. I like this title more because it opens up a whole line that I never thought of before. It could mean Harry goes behind the veil in search of Sirius, answering some unanswered questions about what exactly is back there. I could be defining it wrong here, but I just figured from “All Hallows Eve”.
The third is reverance, respect, honor. The deathly honor? Honor of the dead? Maybe it’s hinting Harry dies (hopefully not)

Now I’m really confused because a spokeswoman for Scholastic, has come out and said that Hallows refers to “a holy person or saint”. WTF? Harry Potter and the Deathly Holy Person?

Oh wait, now I get it. Maybe Jo is going to have Laura Mallory be a character in the last book. In that case though it should be “Deathly Holier-than-thou Person”.

I have a theory after discussion in a HP fan club in my city.
Check http://deepakiyer.blogspot.com/2006/12/hallowed-be-thy-name.html, if interested.

“and translates as “Deadly Shrine,” “Deadly Sanctuary” or “Deadly Saints.” ”
“Harry Potter et les saints mortuaires/mortels” (French, “Deathly/Mortal Saints”)
“Harry Potter y los santos de la muerte” (Spanish, “Saints of Death”)
“Harry Potter e l rito moratle” (Italian, “Deadly Ritual”)
“Harry Potter e os Santos Mortuários” (Portuguese, “Deathly Saints”)
“Harry Potter ve Olumcul Takdis” (Turkish, “Deadly Blessing”)
“Hari Poter i Smrtonosni Blagoslovi” (Serbian)
“Harry Potter si Ingerii Mortii” (Romanian, “Angels of Death”)
“Harry Potter i sveci smrtnici” (Croatian, “Mortal Saints”)
“Harry Potter ve Ruchot Hamavet” (Hebrew, “Spirits of Death”)
So could you guys relate to these titles or what deathly hallows is translated as?

I really think Deepak has something on his blog. I like that link between the winter solstice and the prophecies in the 5th book. Very cool. As for the deathly hallows being horcruxes, it’s the best theory I’ve heard about so far. It makes the most sense, and Rowling often uses myths and legends in her stories. This one is neat because it’s so close to home…Ireland instead of Greece, Rome or Egypt. Nice one Deepak. I really need to read the 5th book again…

i know that she said that 2 main characters were goin to dye now i dint no how correct if at all this is but could harry potter be a horocrux, the prophecy says that one must dye b4 the other can, does harry have to die b4 voldemort can die, and if harry doesnt die then it be almost like she has to go on writing the books, the other main person that i think will die is probally malfoy jus cause hes a douche , also i dont think that snape is bad, albus had beleived in him completely he had to kill him bevause of the unbreakable vowl, but i also think he made one with albus, because in the 6th book i think its harry that cathes snape sayin i dont want to do this ne more, so snape it good, harry dies{which sux}, and malfoy dies, this is jus what im think so yea o and albus isnt gone 4ever his picture will be up in the new headmasters office so he still has good use … let me no what u think about all this thax

I think that ron will die in the seventh book
why i say this is because in the fifth book the order of pheonix mrs weasly saw her children dieing including harry
or may be harry dies saving ron or they both die
