I got a great email from one of the geniuses behind wiseGEEK this week. In honor of the last Harry Potter book, they’ve put together a collection of articles, a compendium of knowledge if you will, all about Harry, Hogwarts and the magical world created by J.K. Rowling.
I’ve taken a look at this and there’s a ton of information and interesting stuff whether you’re an experienced Potter fan or a complete novice. It explains it all.

This approach seems like a great way to bone up on your French, Italian, German, Spanish or any of the many languages into which the Harry Potter books have been translated.
I have a Chinese copy of Chamber of Secrets, but first I need to learn the symbols.

From Rowling’s official site as of yesterday:
I always knew that Harry’s story would end with the seventh book, but saying goodbye has been just as hard as I always knew it would be. Even while I’m mourning, though, I feel an incredible sense of achievement. I can hardly believe that I’ve finally written the ending I’ve been planning for so many years. I’ve never felt such a mixture of extreme emotions in my life, never dreamed I could feel simultaneously heartbroken and euphoric.
and this:
I’m almost scared to admit this, but one thing has stopped me collapsing in a puddle of misery on the floor. While each of the previous Potter books has strong claims on my affections, ‘Deathly Hallows’ is my favourite, and that is the most wonderful way to finish the series.
So it’s her favorite and she’s sad and happy to be done. Sounds about right to me, though I’ve only published blog posts.

J.K. Rowling apparently finished work on the last Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, on January 11th at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh. She signed a marble bust in the hotel to mark the event. The inscription reads, “JK Rowling finished writing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in this room (652) on 11th Jan 2007.”
That’s one statue that’s worth a whole lot of money. Wonder if it’ll be kept by the hotel or sold at an auction? I just think it’s cool that J.K. Rowling gets to deface the private property of the hotel and not get in trouble. Think I’ll try that the next time I stay at the Holiday Inn.

What does a half-naked wrestler reading a Jerry Lawler book have to do with Harry Potter OR a naked Daniel Radcliffe in Equus?
I have no idea, but CNN made that leap on-air recently. See below (RSS readers, come to the site).
