Dan, Rupert Will See Harry To The End; Emma Dissembles
via HPANA
Reports surfaced today that Dan Radcliffe has definitively signed on for the last two Potter films. The actor’s official fansite, DanRadcliffe.co.uk, received word from his publicist that he will indeed finish out the series.
This comes as little surprise, as the actor has said all along that barring any extraordinary circumstances, he would very much like to see his role as Harry Potter to the end. Rupert Grint has also indicated in various interviews that he intends on playing Ron through the last two films. The only one up in the air at this point is Emma Watson, who told HPANA in September that she was “looking for other work” and would not rule out or specifically confirm her ongoing role as Hermione Granger.
It would be devastating to the Harry Potter series (the movies) if Emma chose not to continue. I also feel, and let me be blunt, that it would be the most spectacularly stupid career choice ever made by a young actress. It would only serve to show any future director that she is a person who doesn’t finish what they start. Not only that, but quitting now would only earn her a tremendous amount of ill will from disgruntled fans. They wouldn’t be able to watch anything she was in without remembering that she single-handedly destroyed the magic of the last two Potter films.
Rumors have circulated that perhaps Emma is not as in love with acting as she was when she was 11, and wishes to pursue other avenues. If that’s the case, I respect that. But to stop now when there are only two movies left seems silly. She could finish up the last two films, and then be free, with enough money and positive notoriety to pursue any career and/or life she wants. The actress has been quoted as saying that the films “take so long to film” and that she might be missing out on opportunities while filming Harry Potter. Not likely. The last movie will probably film during 2009 and will come out in 2010. She’ll be what, 20? Oh yes, I quite agree, it’s way too late to pursue a different career choice at the ripe old age of 20.
This writer can only conclude that her cryptic statements as regards her role in future Potter movies are an attempt to score a higher salary from Warner Bros. Indeed, I wish her well in this endeavor, as I think they should pay her whatever she wants. She should probably be making nearly as much as Dan Radcliffe at this point. But I hope that while striving towards this goal she doesn’t cut off her nose to spite her face.

I agree completely with this statement, though i do see emma’s point, but i still totally agree with this. I too think that this is a stupid idea and that its purpose is to gain the salary as she is probablly being made to do this by her ‘manager’, putting us all in distress.
PS…. i would like to say this once as rationally as i possiblly can……….PLEASE EMMA PLEASE DON’T LEAVE US I BEG OF YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU *cries*

According to another source, the ‘people’ in charge are very confident for Emma’s return so, YAY for Emma.

If Emma doesn’t return I personally will be VERY angry! She has made a commitment to the Harry Potter series since she was very little, and now that she is a little more grown up it shouldn’t change! I also feel that no-one else would be able to play Hermione the way she does! But I agree if the ‘people’ in charge say that she will return then YAY for Emma.
