Why Spoilers Spoil?

NewTeeVee.com has an interesting post about the phenomenon of spoiling books, Harry Potter in particular.

If you haven’t finished Deathly Hallows yet, avoid all the videos except the Daily Show’s.

Anyone have a pet theory about why certain people lord over pop culture with an iron fist (and a spoiling tongue)?
